About 60 percent of the world's chocolate comes from Ghana and Ivory Coast in Africa. But issues with child labor, famer poverty and climate change have plagued the supply chain. Candy Industry Editor Crystal Lindell was able to tour Barry Callebaut's cocoa fields and chocolate processing facilities in Ghana first-hand to report on how the industry is working to address these challenges. The three-part series offers a rare, personal and candid look at why it can be so difficult to make substantive changes in the region, but why it's also so important to do so. If the world wants to continue enjoying chocolate, then it will have no choice but to respond. This series received a 2020 Eddie Award Honorable Mention.
