Paradise, Calif.-based Joy Lyn’s Candies is among the businesses lost in the Camp Fire, now California’s most destructive wildfire.

Joy Lyn’s Candies, founded in 1969 and purchased by Pam and Bill Hartley in 2000, announced the blaze had consumed the business on its website and Facebook page Nov. 9.

“We are more than heartbroken,” the post reads. “Thank you family and friends who have reached out to us. We managed to grab the treasured recipe book and a few photos. Hug and hold tight to your families .... it's really all we have.”

The Hartleys expanded Joy Lyn’s store and factory in 2005. Known for its artisan truffles, caramel apples and chocolate-dipped strawberries, Joy Lyn’s launched the Paradise Chocolate Fest in 2006, which benefits more than 20 youth organizations. The Hartleys had passed the business to the next generation of owners, Glen and Jody, before the fire.

Joy Lyn’s Candies is also a member of Retail Confectioners International (RCI). The organization offered its condolences Monday.

“We are grateful the Hartley family is safe, and we will continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers,” RCI said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in support of the business and the Hartley family, which also lost two homes in the fire. As of Tuesday, more than $39,000 had been raised, thanks in part to members of RCI and the confectionery industry.

“The Hartley family has been doing things for their friends, family and community for a very long time, and now it is our time to show them how much we appreciate them and help them get back on their feet as they rent a home together and work on rebuilding their lives, homes, and their beloved Joy Lyn's Candies,” the page reads.

The Camp Fire, which tore through Paradise in minutes, destroyed 6,453 homes and 260 commercial buildings in less than 24 hours, the Los Angeles Times reported. At least 79 people have died as a result of the Camp Fire. Search efforts are ongoing.
