Springfield, Mo.-based Askinosie Chocolate has unveiled its first milk chocolate bar — the 52% Coconut Milk Chocolate Bar.

Using direct-trade cocoa from Ecuador, Askinosie adds organic coconut, Maldon sea salt and a touch of organic vanilla bean. The company’s goal was to create a new type of milk chocolate that would uphold the flavor and texture of the treat people know and love.

“This chocolate bar was born from tons of feedback we’ve received over the years — to create a milk chocolate,” says Shawn Askinosie, founder and ceo of Askinosie Chocolate. “It’s the request we’ve heard the most from our fans, and the second is to create more vegan and dairy-free bars. We wanted to do right by milk chocolate and in the end, this bar is really an excellent milk chocolate bar that just happens to be vegan and dairy-free. When people taste it, they have no idea it doesn’t include dairy.”

The Coconut Milk Chocolate is also kosher and gluten-free. Its packaging features the father-and-son cocoa farmer team with whom Askinosie works directly to source Arriba Nacional cocoa beans.

A companion to Askinosie’s original 62% Dark Milk Chocolate Bar made with goat’s milk, the Coconut Milk Chocolate Bar will be available at askinosie.com and select Askinosie retailers nationwide.
