One tall … and long Cow Tale
Goetze Candy Co. to create 10-ft long caramel stick for the Maryland State Fair.
July 5, 2017
Typically, Goetze Cow Tales run seven inches long and weigh one ounce. But as the Baltimore Sun reports, the famed creator of the cream-filled caramel “dessert jerky” stick looks to greet visitors to the Bulk Candy Store at Maryland State Fair’s exhibition hall with a whopping 10-ft. version. It will be the largest Cow Tale that the Baltimore-based candy manufacturer has ever produced.
According to the Baltimore Sun, it was Brian Shenkman who approached Goetze Candy Co. with the idea. He and his brother Ken co-own Bulk Candy Store, a West Palm Beach, Fla., candy shop and online retailer. Their company regularly participates at the state fair’s Bulk Candy venue.
Given Goetze’s strong roots and loyalties to the Baltimore area, Brian thought an oversized Cow Tale would be a novel way to highlight that affiliation. As he told the Baltimore Sun, “We’ve been coming to the fair for over 20 years, and I know we always sell a lot of Goetze products.”
During the last few days of the Maryland State Fair, which runs Aug. 24 to Sept. 4., candy lovers will be able to purchase a piece of the world’s longest Cow Tale, with all monies being donated to the Maryland State Fair Scholarship Fund.
