Sanders and Morley Candy Makers will unveil a renovated Chocolate & Ice Cream Shoppe this fall, the Clinton Township, Mich.-based company announced last week.

The new store will be more than 30 percent larger than the original footprint, and seating will be expanded from 10 spaces to more than 125. The renovation also include an on-site bakery. Elements celebrating the company’s 142-year heritage will also be included in a modern design.

“Sanders has always provided Metro Detroiters with unique experiences and products you can't find anywhere else,” says Brian Jefferson, chairman and ceo of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers. “We're so excited about the new store because it’s going to be unlike any other candy shop Michigan has seen before.”

The Sanders Chocolate & Ice Cream Shoppe remodel comes after Sanders experienced double-digit growth each year in the last decade. The company’s commitment to reviving the Sanders brand by using real ingredients and returning to original recipes dating to 1875 has allowed Sanders to not only see growth on a local level, but also see increased distribution nationally and internationally.

“We are grateful for our growing sales and increased national recognition, but we know it wouldn’t be possible without our strong customer base continuing to share us with family and friends,” says Ron Rapson, president of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers. “This new store is just one more way to allow us to continue investing locally to give the Metro Detroit community even more positive memorable experiences.”

During construction, the Clinton Township Shoppe will remain open in a temporary location inside the Sanders and Morley Candy headquarters with limited hours of operation. Sanders plans to share updates about the construction project with its fans via social media, and the company is already planning a re-opening celebration in the fall.
