Nielsen-Massey Fine Vanillas & Flavors will on Nov. 12 present the second Chicago Buttercream Ball, an event benefiting Maryland-based nonprofit organization Icing Smiles.

Icing Smiles’ mission is to provide custom cakes and treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. Its goal is to create positive memories Icing Smilesduring difficult times for children and their families. The organization, which has delivered 11,000 cakes to date, depends on a team of volunteers throughout the U.S. to fulfill its mission.

“As a father, Icing Smiles’ mission to deliver a moment of respite from the daily routine of an ill child or sibling by providing a beautiful, flavorful work of art at no cost to the family rang true to me,” says Matt Nielsen, Nielsen-Massey coo. “What this organization does is no small thing, reminding us of the joy that food, and especially cake, brings to people and the opportunity it provides to celebrate someone. It’s a simple act of kindness that has a lasting impact.”

In addition to a cake demonstration, Felix and Fingers, a dueling piano group, will be providing live entertainment. Gourmet savories prepared by David Burke’s Primehouse, a delicious dessert buffet, and signature cocktail recipes from Nielsen-Massey and CH Distillery will also be available. A silent auction will also take place the evening of the event.

The event will be held at the James Hotel in Chicago. General admission tickets are $75 and a reserved table for eight guests is $500. Registration information for the event can be found on Icing Smiles’ website.
