Confectionery distributor Nassau Candy has acquired certain assets of Hobbs & Dobbs, Inc., a leading novelty and specialty candy distributor.

Founded in 1978, Hobbs & Dobbs distributes thousands of products, including an assortment of specialty candy, uniquely-shaped tins with major licensed brands and a collection of novelty, gag gift and other specialty items. Among the major brands that Hobbs & Dobbs distributes: Boston America, Haribo, Jelly Belly, Pez, Hot Lix, Marvel and AmuseMints, a subsidiary of Nassau Candy. Its distribution reach extends to specialty candy stores, major specialty chain retailers, hospital gift shops, general stores and other gift purveyors.

Randy Goldbaum, Nassau’s v.p. of confectionery sales, says the acquisition will work well with the  New York-based company’s candy vendors and will expand Nassau’s distribution and product assortment channels.

“The deal unites us with a tremendous brand in Hobbs & Dobbs, its sales presence in the gifting markets, plus expands our product range into a tremendous group of fun and unique non-edibles, which we are excited to bring into the Nassau Candy product family,” he says.

In July, Nassau acquired AmuseMints, the largest supplier of custom mint tins to the souvenir industry. By combining AmuseMints with Nassau’s manufacturing and customization capabilities, Nassau's goal was to create a one-stop shop of confectionery and snack products for the souvenir industry.

The company will roll out a new line this month at the Las Vegas Souvenir and Resort Gift Show.
