Ferrero Canada announces $36.1 million expansion
The project will expand Ferrero's product range at its Brantford, Ontario plant.
Ferrero Canada is kicking off a $36.1 million expansion of its manufacturing plant in Brantford, Ontario.
The company scored $1.5 million in support from the Ontario government through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, which encourages regional businesses to pursue innovation and new markets by helping fund up to 15 percent of eligible costs.
“We are committed to helping our communities grow and investing in strategic partnerships that bring jobs and prosperity to our province," says Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development and Growth. "Our government is pleased to support Ferrero Canada through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, which will help the company launch new products and reach new markets.”
The company will invest in new technology, including a new manufacturing process to make three additional products for sale across North America. It will also scale up its operation in Brantford, adding 55 new jobs while retaining the 831 existing jobs in the facility.
Ferrero Canada is a subsidiary of Ferrero International, the world's third-largest confectionery group and known for manufacturing Nutella, Tic Tacs, Kinder, and a range of other sweets.
“We appreciate the support of the Ontario government and the people of this province. Brantford has proven to be a great manufacturing location for us and a catalyst for us to expand our business and grow our presence in North America,” says a spokesperson for Ferrero Canada.
