It’s no secret that Chicago has a long history of great candy makers, but these days it’s the artisians making their mark on the city, and even the country.

Candy Industry Magazinerecently visited with two Chicago Chocolatiers: Veruca Chocolates and Chocolat Uzma Sharif.

Veruca Chocolates found the spotlight after re-inventing the traditional Hanukkah Gelt coin, and turning it into a Gelt for Grown-Ups, made with premium chocolate and high-end ingredients. And the company has made a name for itself re-inventing old classics.

As for Chocolat Uzma Sharif, owner Uzma Sharif ties her Pakistani heritage into all of her chocolates, creating truly unique sweets.

Both represent the Second City in the best way possible.
