Unreal relaunches line of unjunked candy

Unreal, an "unjunked" food company, is relaunching its line of unjunked candy, with new packaging and new flavors like crispy quinoa, coconut and almond butter.

Founded in 2012, Unreal's candy is made from 100 percent real, non-GMO ingredients with less sugar and no gluten, corn, soy, artificial coloring or preservatives. It's a better-for-you candy option, complete with dark chocolate vegan products and sustainably sourced cacao to offer more protein and fiber from real foods.

“It’s great to be back on store shelves and to introduce some new, really unique flavors to consumers,” says Steve Konczal, ceo. “But above all, we believe in being a business that does the right thing. From our sustainable sourcing practices to using Fair Trade and organic ingredients, we’re always striving to do what’s better for people, and what’s better for the planet.”

The company has also marked its relaunch with new packaging, moving away from its previous signature black and creating a lighter, more colorful look for the brand.

“We recognized that we needed to better align our products and messaging with the values of our core, health-conscious consumer target,” says Amanda Reiss, cmo. “The packaging and merchandising strategies have been re-designed to bring Unreal's fun and quirky brand personality to life.”

Unreal last rebranded in 2013, changing its logo to a clean-cut typeface instead of one inspired by a QR code and getting rid of its old candy numbering system.

Now with a focus on special occasions like Easter and Halloween, Unreal's candy is available in 1,000 stores across the country, including select Super Target stores, Kroger and select Whole Foods Markets. The candy comes in twin packs, 4 oz. bags and one gal. party cans filled with a mix of 50 snack size peanut butter cups.
