Now, eating chocolate can help give other people the chance to eat.
For each purchase of a Seattle Chocolate Co. product online or at the company’s flagship Seattle store made between now and the end of the year, the company will donate a fresh serving of food. The candymaker will also donate to food banks for each use of the hashtag #chocolategives.
"Chocolate is one of the most universally celebrated foods," says Jean Thompson, Seattle Chocolate Co. owner and ceo. "It's one of the few foods we enjoy without needing utensils or plates or napkins. We can truly 'break bread' with loved ones with chocolate. And now you can not only share those moments with friends and family, you can share in the holiday spirit and help those in need."
The #chocolategives campaign ties in with the holiday season, so shoppers can give gifts to their families while simultaneously giving gifts to the hungry.
"The holiday season is always one of our busiest as families come together to share a holiday meal," says Margarette Purvis, president and ceo of Food Bank For New York City. "This donation could not come at a more opportune time. Even now, five years after the end of the recession, the need for emergency food is greater than ever with shortages at soup kitchens and food pantries across the five boroughs.”
In addition to the Food Bank For New York City, Seattle Chocolate Co. also works with the Greater Boston Food Bank, SF-Marin Food Bank and Northwest Harvest.
“We depend greatly on generous partners like Seattle Chocolate Co. and are excited to collaborate with them on their #chocolategives campaign," Purvis adds.
Special holiday offerings from Seattle Chocolate Co. include the Baby It’s Cold Outside collection and the new Kris Kringle Crackle bar, a dark chocolate bar featuring popcorn and sea salt.
Founded in 1991, Seattle Chocolate Co. makes premium chocolates and specializes in truffles and bars. It also makes gift baskets and Seattle-themed products. The chocolate is all-natural and certified Kosher and uses Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa.
