Retailer of the Year
The atmosphere was festive in San Antonio in December when Confectioner hosted a reception for friends and fans of H-E-B to celebrate the grocery superstar’s selection as the magazine’s 2005 Retailer of the Year.
Candy business development manager, Louise Briggs, and
Dave Schulze, business unit director, were presented with the award, a
blown-glass sculpture christened by its creators as “The Flame of
Excellence.” Confectioner publisher, Lisbeth Echeandia, and Confectioner editor, Mary Ellen
Kuhn, presented the “Flame” as well as an award plaque.
Speeches were kept to a minimum, however, to allow
those assembled maximum time for mingling and socializing at the event,
which was held at Biga on the Banks in San Antonio’s famed Riverwalk
area.
