New name for Corn Products International

Corn Products International wants people to know they offer more than just corn.

The company is planning to change its name to “Ingredion” - a combination of the word “ingredients” and “ion” which comes from a Greek word meaning “something that goes,” the company says.

The change, which is pending shareholder approval, comes after the company acquired National Starch in late 2012.

“We are very excited to announce our new name and identity,” says Ilene Gordon, chairman, president and ceo of Corn Products International. “Ingredion encompasses the diversity and growth of our product offerings. It also honors the long-standing values that have contributed to our success while being more representative of the stronger, global company we have become.”

The name change will be included in the company’s proxy statement for its annual meeting in May. Legal entities outside of Corn Products International are not expected to change their names, but the company anticipates a global transition to the Ingredion brand and logo by the end of 2013.

Corn Products International, a global ingredient provider to the food, beverage, brewing and pharmaceutical industries, produces ingredients for customers in approximately 50 countries.
