The Hershey Co. is selling off part of it’s original chocolate plant for nearly $58 million, but the company plans is to lease it right back, Harrisburg, Pa.’s Patriot-News reports.
The 100-year-old plant is on East Chocolate Ave., and the asking price for the 2-million sq.-ft. portion on sale, which has been used for offices, is $57.9 million.
Hershey plans to lease the office building back and use it as its corporate headquarters, the Patriot-News reports.
The company has not disclosed what it plans to do with the remainder of the property, which includes the majority of the chocolate manufacturing facilities, and will cease to be used for production next year when the company transitions to its new West Hershey plant.
