David Floreani, president of Savage Bros. Co., died Feb. 1, 2011, from complications following surgery related to his treatment for pancreatic cancer. He was 66.   

An active member of the confectionery industry for 36 years, Floreani organized a family group to purchase Savage Bros. Co in 1975. Floreani served in active management of the 120-year-old family operated manufacturer of confectionery machinery.   

He also served a term on the Board of Directors of Retail Confectioners international (RCI) and in June 2010, RCI awarded Floreani the “Hengry J. Bornhofft Memorial Award” for his contributions to the industry.   

Floreani is survived by three daughters, a son-in-law, two sons, a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, former wife/mother-of-his-children, sister, and mother.
