'Au'some' plans in the works for U.S.

Hong-Kong based Au’some Inc. is looking to build its first plant in North America.

The candy company, which has a corporate U.S. office in Monmouth Junction, N.J.,  plans to build a 100,000-sq.-ft. facility on a 28-acre site in Sumter, S.C. says Rose Araneo, senior vice president of operations.

“We are very excited about our new manufacturing facility... as we have been working on it for quite some time,” she says. “This expansion will allow us to better serve our customers throughout North America.”

The facility is expected to have four productions lines and will be used to produce the company’s Florida’s Natural Brand Fruit Snacks, 3Dee’s Gummies, and Healthy Treats

Araneo says production at the plant should commence this fourth quarter and according to a report by WIS in South Carolina, at least 120 jobs could be created.

Au’some has offices in North America, Asia, Europe and UK. It’s international customer base includes Wal-mart, Target, Costco, Walgreens, Tesco, Kaufland, Edeka, and major discount-store chains.
