Nonni’s Foods acquires Villa Veneto

Purchase marks second acquisition in 2012.

nonnisIn an effort to expand into specialty retail, Nonni’s Food LLC, known for its biscotti in the United States, has acquired Villa Veneto Corporation, maker of La Dolce Vita products.

Completed in December of last year, this was the second acquisition Nonni’s Food made in 2012.

Glenview, Ariz.-based La Dolce Vita was founded by Italian-born Paola Tulliani and her daughter, Renee, in 1993.

Made from traditional recipes, La Dolce Vita produces more than five million pounds of biscotti in a variety of flavors, including the traditional almond and chocolate. The company also sells additional baked goods such as macaroons, amaretti cookies and other classic Italian treats at various times throughout the year.

In January of last year, Nonni’s Foods also acquired THINaddictives Almond Thins from V.I.S., Inc. In addition to the THINaddictive brand, the purchase also included V.I.S’s Thinaddicttve bakery in Quebec.

“La Dolce Vita is a strong strategic fit with Nonni’s,” says Dave Bere, Nonni’s Foods LLC CEO.” [The company] positions Nonni’s, THINaddictives and La Dolce Vita to accelerate growth within premium cookies.”
