ProSweets Cologne prepares for confectionery conference

German trade show looking to increase participation, build on last year’s success

With six months to go, ProSweets Cologne is looking to make its sixth annual trade show bigger — and better — than last year’s event.

Approximately 200 exhibitors from all divisions of the confectionery industry have already registered for the show on Jan. 27-30, 2013 in Cologne, Germany, and the trade organization hopes to reach or surpass the total 332 vendors who participated last year.

Additionally, with larger stands available, the fair is expected to take up 10% more of the allotted 20,000 sq.meters (215,278 sq. ft.) of floor space in the Cologne Exhibition Centre, meaning more room for guests to meet with representatives from international manufacturing, packaging, raw material and food safety companies.

Visitors seeking more confectionery connections can also visit the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (ISM), slated for the same weekend and convention center as ProSweets Cologne.

Whether or not the guests also attended ISM, ProSweets Cologne saw nearly 17,000 visitors from 96 countries at last year’s fair. Moreover, 86% of last year’s exhibitors said they would recommend participating in the conference.

Sponsors of ProSweets Cologne include the Association of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI), Sweets Global Network (SG), the German Agricultural Society (DLG) and the Central College of the German Confectionery Industry (ZDS).
