Bob Gamgort, global president of Mars Chocolate, has resigned from Mars, Inc., confirmed a Mars spokesperson. He has agreed to consult with the company through the end of 2009. In the meantime, Mars CEO Paul S. Michaels will manage Mars Chocolate until a successor is named.

Gamgort was hired in 1998 as v.p. – marketing for Mars’ U.S. Snackfood division. In 2002, he was promoted to North American president, according to an article in Advertising Age.

A Mars spokesperson commented saying, “We are disappointed to see him go and thank him for all of his contributions over the past 10 years.”
