Retired Union Confectionery Machinery partner dies

Charles Greenberg, retired partner of family-owned Union Confectionery Machinery Co., died last month on Oct. 10th at his home in New York City. Greenberg started at Union Confectionery in 1951 with his brother, Richard. His cousins Arthur and Bob Greenberg joined him a few years later. The company was founded in 1912 by the four men’s grandfather.

Charles was known for his attention to detail, willingness to learn and customer service skills, according to the company. His son, Andrew, is a fourth-generation owner of the business.

The company was closed on Monday, Oct. 13 in Charles’ memory.

Cadbury appoints non-executive director

Late last month, Cadbury announced the appointment of Baroness Sarah Hogg as non-executive director. Previously deputy chairman of GKN plc, Hogg joined the board at the end of October 2008. Hogg also acts as chairman of 3i Group plc, chairman of Frontier Economics Ltd, deputy chairman of the Financial Reporting Council and a non-executive director of BG Group plc.

“We have strengthened the board with the appointment of an exceptional non-executive director who brings a wealth of corporate experience and expertise to Cadbury,” says Cadbury chairman Roger Carr.
