Having come from a multigenerational family of bakers, candy and food manufacturers, importers and marketers, it’s not surprising that Michael Rosenberg found candy flowing in his veins.

In 1979, while still an undergraduate college student at American University in Washington, D.C., Rosenberg started Rosenberg & Co. Enterprises from his college dormitory room with just $150. By August of 1980, Rosenberg had amassed $10,000 and formally incorporated the business, which subsequently was renamed Promotion In Motion, Inc.

Thirty years later, The Promotion In Motion Companies, Inc. continues to expand and diversify domestically and globally. As one of the largest confectionery and snack food manufacturers in North America, the company produces such loved favorites as Welch’s Fruit Snacks, Sun-Maid Milk Chocolate Raisins, Fisher Milk Chocolate Peanuts and Sour Jacks, among many others. It most recently became the first ever licensee of Mars, Inc. to produce and exclusively market the 21 colors line of My Colors M&M’S Chocolate Candies.

In 2004, Rosenberg established a manufacturing unit, PIM Brands, LLC, which today operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located on 17 acres in Franklin Township, N.J. In addition to extensive starch moulding, chocolate and yogurt panning and packaging operations, the company will introduce extrusion production in 2011.

Well-known in the confectionery industry for his knowledge of the field and work on behalf of the industry, Roesenberg has a long list of confectionery business credentials.

In 1997, he helped establish the inaugural All Candy Expo, twice taking on duties as chairman of the All Candy Expo committee. He just recently assumed chairmanship of the now renamed National Confectioners Associaton’s (NCA) Sweet & Snacks Expo.

In addition to serving on the NCA’s Executive Board and Board of Trustees, he is a member of the World Cocoa Foundation, and the founder and chairman of The American Museum of Candy History. The museum houses the largest historical collection of confectionery artifacts in North America, which Rosenberg plans to turn into public museum with free admission.

All three of Rosenberg’s children have expressed interest in joining their father’s business.
