As one of the world’s largest cocoa and chocolate manufacturers, ADM markets its products under a variety of well-know brands — Ambrosia, De Zaan and Merckens — all of which are familiar to a host of manufacturers in the candy, baked goods, cereals, dairy products, snacks and beverage industries.

ADM’s product support and development teams work with customers to help determine which product will work best for new or existing formulations.  As one would expect, the company’s cocoa and chocolate processing facilities — which are located throughout the world in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa — use the most modern and efficient production processes. This guarantees the delivery of  consistent, quality products that customers have come to expect.

The company’s newest facility, which opened in 2008, is a 500,000-sq.-ft. cocoa processing plant located in Hazleton, Penn.

Neil Widlak
“The Hazleton facility illustrates ADM’s commitment to our customers’ growing needs for premier cocoa and chocolate ingredients,” says Neil Widlak, director of product services and development, ADM Cocoa. “The facility is our most technically advanced cocoa processing plant and is located in close proximity to our Northeast customers.”

The company’s  product line includes a vast range of cocoa powders, cocoa butters, cocoa liquors and cocoa powders, as well as chocolate and compound confectionery products.

For example, for more than 100 years, commercial customers — from chefs to major food processors — have relied on Ambrosia for high-quality, great-tasting chocolates.

Known for its consistent and superior quality, the Merckens brand of chocolate has been used by confectionery retailers of premium chocolate for more than 80 years

And ADM’s De Zaan cocoa powders are available in a variety of colors — from vibrant reds to dark browns and black — with various tastes and intensities.

This broad selection helps manufacturers fashion highly differentiated end-products, which, in turn, enables them to meet the requirements of both individual customers and vast market segments.

“Food manufacturers who care passionately about quality know that choosing the right cocoa or chocolate ingredient for their application is essential,” Widlak says. “When customers come to ADM Cocoa, they work with a diverse group of experts — scientists, technologists and product developers — who are every bit as passionate about chocolate.”
